Reflection
1 Kings 17:7-16, Matthew 5:13-16
“Be salt! Be light!”
Today, Jesus calls each of us: “You are the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world.” This is the extraordinary truth of who we are.

Salt is useful, not useless. It is to give flavour to food and preserve meat. Light is fundamental, not unnecessary. Light makes people see in the dark. Be salt! Be light! Be who we are called to be. We have the capacity to season our family, our society with the taste of God. We are called to let our faith shine so that God can be seen through our actions and words.

Let us not simply rush through Jesus’ words, “You are the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world.” Savour these words. Experience His trust behind these words. This is who we are meant to be.

Questions for reflection:
1) How can I be salt and light to the world today?

2) What are the challenges I face in living as salt and light?
