Reflection

Habakkuk 1:12-2:4, Matthew 17:14-20

“Faith and Prayer”

The disciples were puzzled because they tried to do what Jesus did but they failed to do so. Jesus told them the reason, “Because you have little faith...”

What Jesus is asking from His disciples is a living faith that seeks to empty themselves of themselves in order to be filled with God and His presence of love. His disciples tried to cure the man’s son, but they depended on their own strength and capabilities, and not on God.

Jesus, on the other hand, was a man of prayer. His heart was constantly turned towards God the Father, with child-like trust and dependency. He did everything with God and for God.

What about us? How is the depth of our faith? A deep and mature faith comes from being with God in prayer. Through prayer, we are drawn by Love always into a mature relationship of trust and dependency.

Question for reflection:

1) How can I grow more as a person of prayer, like Jesus?
