Reflection
1 Kings 19:19-21, Matthew 5:33-37
“To live a life of integrity”
Jesus tells us to be people of integrity and honesty. When others listen to us, can they trust the words we say? Is our ‘Yes’ a ‘Yes’ and our ‘No’ a ‘No’?

Jesus lived a life of integrity and honesty in His words and behaviour. He was always true to His character and He was not deceitful. Therefore, those who listened to Him were attracted to Him. They recognised that He taught as one with authority, and not like their teachers of the law (c.f. Matthew 7:29).

As Jesus’ disciples, we must learn to speak truthfully and honestly without the need to call on the name of God to be our witness. Jesus calls us to be free from dishonesty and hypocrisy in speech and conduct, but to be true to God, others and ourselves.

Question for reflection:
1) How can Jesus the Word of God make me free to be true to myself, to others and to God?
